Capturing Love in Fall Colors – A Unique Couple's Shoot at Parc Lafontaine with Raphaëll and Samantha

There’s something truly special about fall in Montreal, and the recent couple’s session I had with Raphaëll and Samantha at Parc Lafontaine captured all the magic of this season. Raphaëll, a Montreal native, and Samantha, who hails from the States, brought their vibrant energy and unique story to our shoot. This session allowed us to showcase their connection amidst the brilliant colors of fall, capturing their warmth and joy against the iconic scenery of the Plateau neighborhood.

A Love that Crossed Paths in Unexpected Places

When asked how they met, Samantha was eager to share a story full of spontaneity and joy. They originally connected through one of Samantha's partners and found themselves working together on a creative project, co-producing a sober, all-ages drag event in Montreal. A shared passion for creativity quickly blossomed into a deep connection, one filled with shared interests and values. Samantha describes their relationship as one of “recognition of ourselves in the other,” with a beautiful harmony in the way they see and engage with the world.

Shared Passions and Simple Joys

Raphaëll and Samantha share many hobbies, from enjoying live music and taking scenic walks to experimenting with new vegan recipes. They love connecting with Montreal’s vibrant communities, and their mutual interests often lead them on new adventures. As Samantha described, there’s an effortless comfort in their relationship, and their time together is often spent enjoying both creative collaborations and cozy nights in.

During the shoot, their connection was palpable. They were playful, relaxed, and full of laughter as they strolled through Parc Lafontaine’s colorful paths, the crisp autumn air adding a touch of romance to the day. Samantha shared how wonderful it felt to be in a public space, “visibly queer and trans and in love,” creating an atmosphere of love, pride, and joy.

An Autumn Day to Remember at Parc Lafontaine

Parc Lafontaine was the perfect setting to capture this couple’s unique love story. The park’s mix of lush fall colors, serene lake views, and scenic paths provided a beautiful backdrop that highlighted Raphaëll and Samantha’s connection. Each photo captured their bond, from quiet, affectionate moments to playful interactions that show just how at ease they are with each other.

The natural beauty of Montreal in the fall provided a stunning canvas, but it was Raphaëll and Samantha’s love that truly brought these photos to life. They were incredibly comfortable in front of the camera, making it easy to capture moments that are both authentic and heartfelt.

A New Chapter of Love and Adventure

As a photographer, it’s always a joy to capture the unique connections of every couple, but Raphaëll and Samantha’s shoot was a special experience. Their warmth, humor, and visible pride in each other brought an extra layer of beauty to each shot. I’m excited to share a few of my favorite images from this session, each one reflecting the essence of their love story and the magic of Montreal’s fall season.

Capturing Fall Colors with Godwin & Aksa: A Montreal Photography Session

As a Montreal photographer, fall photo shoots at iconic locations like Parc du Mont-Royal are truly a highlight of my season. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Godwin and Aksa, a young, recently married couple who brought their warmth and joy to our session amid the vibrant autumn colors of mid-September. Here’s a glimpse into their story and our memorable shoot.

Meeting Godwin and Aksa: An Inspiring Story

Godwin and Aksa met through an online matrimony platform. Their marriage, arranged and filled with mutual purpose, has blossomed with friendship and affection. Having recently immigrated to Canada, they’re now building their life together here in Montreal. Their journey brought them to my lens, and I had the privilege of capturing some of their first memories in their new city.

When I asked them what they love most about each other, Godwin mentioned Aksa's openness, kindness, and supportive nature, while Aksa shared that Godwin’s humbleness and progressive outlook make her feel at ease. Their love radiates naturally, something that truly came through in their photos.

The Location: Parc du Mont-Royal

For this shoot, we chose the breathtaking Parc du Mont-Royal, a popular spot for engagement photos in Montreal. We started at the Grand Escalier du Mont-Royal, climbing the iconic steps and taking in the beautiful autumn landscape as we made our way up to Belvèdère Kondiaronk. The overlook provided the perfect view of Montreal’s downtown skyline framed by fall foliage—a spectacular backdrop for their photos. The park’s golden-hued leaves and serene pathways set the scene for a truly romantic and intimate session.

Capturing Their Connection

One of my favorite parts of the shoot was seeing how at ease they were with one another. Their connection is undeniable; they laughed easily, exchanged glances, and simply enjoyed the experience of being together. In one of the photos, they’re standing with the Montreal fall colors behind them, hands gently intertwined—a simple yet profound moment that speaks volumes about their bond.

While the wedding day can be a blur, Godwin and Aksa shared that their favorite memory from their wedding was the moment they looked into each other’s eyes during their photoshoot. It was heartwarming to hear this, as it resonates with the way they connected during our session at Parc du Mont-Royal.

Fall Photography Tips for Couples

Godwin and Aksa’s session reminded me of some key tips for anyone planning a fall photo shoot. Here are some simple suggestions to make the most of Montreal’s autumn beauty:

- Timing is Key: Early to mid-fall (late September to October) offers the best colors.

- Choose Iconic Locations: Montreal has many picturesque spots like Parc du Mont-Royal and Old Port for timeless backdrops.

- Dress for the Season: Warm colors like maroon, mustard, and forest green blend beautifully with fall scenery.

- Be Yourself: The most captivating photos are those where couples feel comfortable and free to be themselves.

Advice from Godwin and Aksa

For other couples planning their wedding, Godwin and Aksa recommend keeping things “simple and memorable.” It’s advice that resonates deeply, and in our session, it was clear they cherished each moment together.

Whether you’re newly engaged or celebrating years of marriage, photos are a powerful way to capture your story in every season. If you're looking for a Montreal photographer to capture your special moments, let’s connect. You deserve timeless images that reflect your journey and love.
